Service Update May 2020

In order to maintain the CDC Social Distancing Guideline, we have had to make a few adjustments to our services. Please be advised until further notice Fletch’s GMC Buick Audi will require appointments for oil changes and tire rotations. We have also implemented the following guidelines:

  • Please limit the number of people in a vehicle to 1 during your service appointment
  • Our waiting room is limited to 6 people
  • No kids are allowed in the waiting area
  • For those who wish to absolutely minimize person to person contact, we have a dropbox on the right side of the service drive with service forms inside. Please fill it out completely, put keys in an envelope, and drop it through the slot in the box. Make sure any and all information is complete and legible.

COVID 19 Sales Procedures

Under the new Executive Orders, Fletchs GMC Buick team is available for virtual and remote sales starting April 14, 2020. Although our showroom will remained closed until further notice, our team is available for :

Virtual Walk Arounds – If our interested in a vehicle a member of our sales team will set up a virtual walk around or send you a video.  

Bring a vehicle to your home or office for a no-contact test drive.  To ensure the health and safety of our community the vehicle will have plastic seat covers and will be sanitized before and after the test drive. 

Our Finance Manager, Michelle, is available to chat via phone. Michelle will be able to walk you through your finance options. 

The safety of our clients and staff is our #1 concern and during this process, we will continue to follow CDC guidelines.  

COVID 19 Update – April 6, 2020

To Our Clients,

Our thoughts are with you and your families during these uncertain times. Now more than ever, we can all begin to understand just how small the world truly is. It’s hard to navigate the unknown, but as we continue to slow the spread of COVID 19 we want to do everything we can to keep our clients, employees and local community safe. The importance of coming together to protect our global community in times of great need has arrived on our front doorstep.

With that, Fletch’s has made the decision to temporarily close starting April 7,2020. We will remain closed until further notice. We are making this choice for the safety of our employees, and you, our valuable customers. As the COVID-19 situation changes, our plans may too. We will inform you as soon as something changes, hopefully for the better.

Our service and parts department will be closed and we will not be performing any regular type repairs, including oil changes, tires or light maintenance. However, in the midst of all this, we realize your vehicle may need an emergency repair. For this reason, we have a select number of our team members on call if your vehicle is not drivable.

If you have an emergent need with your vehicle, please call 231-487-9636. There you will reach our voice messaging system. Please leave as detailed of a message as you can and one of our team members will return your call as soon as possible and address the concern with your vehicle.

Once a service event is discussed and set up, we ask your vehicle be dropped off and parked in our side lot. Utilizing the night drop envelope system on the side of the service lane garage, please write down all the information and sign the bottom of the form. Then, please give us a call so that we may begin with getting your car back on the road.

We are taking this very seriously and will be following procedures that align with standard COVID-19 precautions to protect you and our staff. In order for our technician to work on your vehicle we need to put a sanitation bomb in it and let it sit for 24 hours before it can be serviced. There will be a charge of $35 for this and there may be residual smell (chlorine/swimming pool smell) in the vehicle for about a week, maybe less. Once this procedure is complete we will begin working on your car and update you as the repairs take place.

These procedures are unprecedented for us as much as they are for you, our customer. We are doing all we can in good effort to protect anyone from transmitting or getting the virus. Our efforts extend beyond our dealership, we are all doing our part to stop the spread.

Covid 19 Service Guidelines

During this time of the COVID-19 outbreak, we are following CDC regulations and doing things a little different to keep you and our staff safe. We ask you to please follow the below guidelines during the service process:
🚙We are asking all customers and staff to maintain a 6-foot distance between each other.
🚙No customers are allowed in the Service Advisors desk area other than to get to the waiting room, parts retail counter or cashier.
🚙The door to service will be locked. Please knock and we will open the door as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience until someone unlocks the door for you.
🚙For those who wish to absolutely minimize person to person contact, we have a dropbox on the right side of the service drive with service forms inside. Please fill it out completely, put keys in an envelope, and drop it through the slot in the box. Make sure any and all information is complete and legible.
🚙 We are staggering our appointments so no more than 2 customers are in the service drive at any given time. Please arrive at your specified drop off time and stay in your car until a Service Advisor comes out to greet you.
🚙Again we will be using the 6-foot social distancing rule. Feel free to announce if that distance becomes too close during your visit.
🚙For those customers that choose to wait for their vehicles, our waiting room chairs are spread out using the 6-foot social distancing rule.
🚙We are cleaning and sterilizing the dealership continuously throughout the day and after hours.

2021 GMC Yukon (XL)

Just hearing the word Yukon conjures up all kinds of imagery. For some, it’s blasting down a snowy mountain road, and to others, it’s showing up at an exclusive resort surrounded by snow-capped mountains. 

GMC’s 2021 Yukon and Yukon XL can do both in a big way. 

Touted as 2021’s Next Generation GMC Yukon, it presents a first-class experience just looking at it from the sidewalk. Having already established its reputation as the standard-bearer for large SUVs, the 2021 GMC Yukon adds more room, new safety features, a softer ride, new off-road capabilities, more engine choices, and the Denali interior. 

2021 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL

The Yukon remains a large three-row SUV but, for 2021, it has been revamped with major updates that have not been seen in six years. This all-new Yukon is bigger on the outside, bigger on the inside, and adds new features. These include new safety equipment, interior amenities, and a diesel engine option. 

In terms of size, the Yukon and the Yukon XL differ mainly in length. The first thing one will notice is that the Yukon XL has a much longer wheelbase. Its overall length is over 224 inches compared to the Yukon’s 204 inches. This equates to an increase in cargo volume of about 25-cubic feet. It also adds about 10 inches of third-row legroom. 

Beyond physical dimensions, new safety equipment includes a nine-camera system that makes parking and towing much safer, magnetic ride control, and air suspension. The air suspension eliminates the old live-axle design for a new independent multi-link suspension across the trim spectrum. This makes for much better ride quality and contributes to more interior room for passengers in the back. All models come standard with automatic emergency braking. 

The AT4 Off-Road Trim

New in 2021 for off-road enthusiasts, the AT4 trim takes ideas from GMC’s other proven off-road vehicles such as the full-sized Sierra truck. It has a two-speed transfer case, skid plates, a selectable traction system, heated steering wheel, heated front seats, leather upholstery, 20-inch Goodyear all-terrain tires, and four-corner air suspension. It is sure to make the impassible passible. 

Where’s the Power?

New in 2021, the Yukon has three engine choices. The standard 355-horsepower 5.3-liter V8 is still around as is the optional 460-horsepower 6.2-liter V8. 

New is the 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder diesel. This addition is a time-proved offering from GMC in their Sierra and Silverado trucks. It produces 277 horsepower with a stump-pulling 460 pounds per foot of torque. It adds a whole new dimension of towing power to the Yukon and promises more in fuel efficiency. 

All models use the time-proven 10-speed automatic transmission. 

Come One, Come All

Perhaps one of the biggest changes in 2021 is the number of passengers that can be seated comfortably. There are three main options available for seating. The base SLE models continue to offer total seating for nine people when configured with the front three-across bench seat. It’d perfect for large families or people who transport a lot of passengers. More on the stylish side is a seven-passenger configuration that has a second-row of captain’s chairs. There is also an eight-passenger setup. 

The Denali Interior

The no-holds-barred luxury of the Yukon Denali comes loaded with even more features in 2021. It now has its own exclusive interior. The upgrade begins with a one-of-a-kind instrument panel with four exclusive color themes. Each of the color themes has a different combination of premium leather appointments with art gallery-worthy “fractal” stitching and beautiful authentic wood. The amenities in the interior abound including, but not limited to, leather seats, heated seats, heated steering wheel, triple door seals, tri-zone automatic climate controls, Bose Active Noise Cancellation, acoustic-laminated windows and much, much more. 

The Little Things in Life

GMC didn’t skimp on the smaller details for the 2021 Yukon. There is a roomy power-operated center console with secure locking upfront, a 15-inch heads-up display, an Active Response 4WD system, an electronic limited-slip differential, and GMC’s ProGrade trailering system. The roomy cabin has too many “little things” to mention in this writing (e.g., cupholders and great interior lighting) but it is safe to say, the things most passengers take for granted are covered. 

GMC’s Yukon line offers many choices and configurations to please even the most discriminating buyer. Whether it’s a black-tie affair in the city or an exciting romp in the snow, The 2021 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL have it covered.

A Community Thank You

First of all, we want to thank each and every one of you who contributed to the Kathleen Jontz Breast Cancer Health Fund for your support. We know we have said it, but your gift truly has had a lasting, meaningful impact on local families who have been affected by breast cancer. Our team, not just as a business but as a group of human beings, is humbled to be part of a such a generous community and grateful for the difference we can make when we stand together.

The Kathleen Jontz Breast Health Fund was established by Kathleen’s friends as a means to honor how passionate she was that no children should have to lose their mother to breast cancer. Because of our donors and participants, the funds we gathered were able to help fulfill this vision and support local families struggling through diagnoses and treatments; everything from mammograms through remission. 

The ramifications of breast cancer can be devastating, and with more than 9,000 new cases expected to be diagnosed among Michigan women for 2019, the numbers feel staggering. Not only are patients faced with the health aspect, but there are also emotional, mental, and financial burdens that often surface. According to the Association of Oncology Social Work, more than 60% of cancer patients experience financial hardship due to medical bills and more than 50% of cancer patients report that the stress of dealing with costs negatively affects their ability to focus on recovery. 

It is because of these staggering statistics that we seek to partner with you to help make a small dent and difference in the lives of survivors. And it is because of you that 11 breast health patients received financial support; 67 patients received Breast Cancer Comfort Kits and 12,000 Bella Blankets were provided for patients receiving mammograms. Because of the donations, The Kathleen Jontz Breast Health Fund is able to provide women with everything from nighttime garments and designated bras to prosthetics, gas cards, lodging and Mammogram Scholarships. 

All of this to say, simply: Thank you. Your donation made a difference. And we are so grateful to you for standing with us in this fight against breast cancer. We are so proud of our community and honor every memory and future of our loved ones faced with this disease.

The Audi Q8 offers a unique performance that blends sport and utility into a momentous SUV design. The Q8 seamlessly integrates technology and advanced driver assistance systems, with standard seating for up to five passengers and, with the rear seats folded, class-leading cargo capacity. Let’s see how the similarly-price Land Rover Range Rover Velar stacks up against the Q8.

Engine

The Q8’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid produces a significant 88 more horsepower and 100 lbs.-ft. more torque than that produced by the standard 2.0 turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the Range Rover Velar P250. Even when compared to the Range Rover Velar P380 3.0 L supercharged V6 the Q8’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid produces 37 lbs.-ft. more torque.

Fuel Economy and Range

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Audi Q8 is capable of operating on regular unleaded gasoline, though premium recommended for maximum performance. The only choice with the Range Rover Velar reis premium unleaded. In addition, the Q8 has almost a gallon more fuel capacity than the Range Rover Velar’s standard fuel tank.

Suspension and Handling

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Q8’s wheelbase is 4.8 inches longer than on the Range Rover Velar. For better handling and stability, the track of the Q8 is 1.4 inches wider in the front and 1.5 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the Range Rover Velar. For better traction, the Q8 has larger standard tires than the Range Rover Velar and the Q8’s optional tires are larger than any tire available on the Range Rover Velar.

Interior Comfort

The Q8’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the Range Rover Velar and is not available on all models.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Q8 has standard extendable sun visors. The Range Rover Velar does not offer extendable visors. A manual rear sunshade is optional in the Q8 to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Range Rover Velar does not offer a rear sunshade.

The Q8 has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the Audi can be started from inside the driver’s home. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Range Rover Velar does not offer a remote starting system.

Towing Capacity

If you’re considering a vehicle in the class to tow a boat or camper, consider that the Q8’s standard towing capacity of 7700 lbs. is much higher than the Range Rover Velar’s 5291 lbs.

Warranty and Reliability

The J.D. Power and Associates 2018 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Audi vehicles are better in initial quality than Land Rover vehicles. While the J.D. Power and Associates 2018 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Audi vehicles are more reliable than Land Rover vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Audi above the industry average for reliability. Land Rover is ranked 30th.

There are over 75 percent more Audi dealers than there are Land Rover dealers, which makes it easier to service your Q8 under the warranty. And the Q8’s corrosion warranty is 6 years longer than the Range Rover Velar’s (12 vs. 6 years).

Safety

The Q8’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Range Rover Velar doesn’t offer pre-crash pre-tensioners. The Q8 has a standard Secondary Collision Brake Assist, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Range Rover Velar doesn’t offer a post-collision braking system.

In addition, the front seat shoulder belts of the Audi Q8 are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Land Rover Range Rover Velar does not offer height-adjustable seat belts.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Q8 Prestige helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The Range Rover Velar does not offer a night vision system.

Both the Q8 and the Range Rover Velar have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, rearview cameras, available lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

The Audi Q8 weighs 533 to 984 pounds more than the Land Rover Range Rover Velar. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.
